I asked a question on DP,
Here are some interesting answers:
2003m2003:
Google believe supplement result are not updated, duplicate content, ....... and less value for users. Probably it is not the case always.
Centime:
links it is, google appears to run 2 indexes,
The main index from from which search queries are initially checked
an the
supplemental index from which results would extracted , "to supplement" results from the first check on the main index
Just guess work, but with a super massive database like google has, its probably necessary to break their database into 2 sections and hence they've got the main an supplemental index
Obviously, the goal of anyone interested in google traffic is to have the highest possible percentage of your pages in the main index,
One known way to facilitate this is links
empservices:
goolge marks pages as supplemental so that webmasters go onto DP and spend thousands of dollars on directory submissions, stumbles, diggs, un-spidered backlinks and other highly effective SEO tools.
Why google let us know some search results are supplemented?
Supplement result is useless for me,
when search something, I don't care whether if is supplemented, just want what is helpful.
why Google let us know that's supplemented? I can't figure it out.
